APPAREL WORK

I am creating works that have been collected and newly attracted and purchased with a simple design.
I keep in mind the design with an emphasis on the color scheme and silhouette that make the most of the individuality of the material.

ウィリアム・モリス
William Morris

< TEXTILES DESIGNED BY WILLIAM MORRIS >

William Morris, a British artist and thinker whom UYUTO respects and loves. He said that "Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful."
And I made the fabric of the design of the flowers that he left behind into clothes.

Since the design is decided according to the pattern, I am conscious of making the Morris floral pattern the most brilliant.

< SERIES FASCINATED BY THE FABRIC >

The fabric has various uses, and there are many different types.
UYUTO embodies design ideas that make the most of the individuality of the fabric and tailors it into a work.

For example, airy knit coats made from Japanese Owari and Banshu textiles, easy-to-wear sarouel pants and snoods.
I was in charge of designing the shirts produced by the crowdfunding project that creates a new Banshu weave, which is dyed by the machine using strawberries that are not for sale.

< UPCYCLING OF OLD KIMONO FABRIC >

Unfortunately, ordinary people are no longer wearing "KIMONO" which is their original clothing, because Japan chose to develop by incorporating Western civilization from the Meiji Restoration.
Something  is happening, that  the kimono worn by their grandmother and mother is left behind.

KIMONO fabrics have great technique and beauty. Even in modern times, we have adopted a new concept of "upcycling" that transforms it into clothes so that it can be worn.

If you have any inquiries such as “Is there something like this?”, or if you would like to upcycle your kimono or cloth, etc,

Please feel free to contact us from the CONTACT page.
